This adapter part solves the age-old issue of connecting a bicycle tire's Schrader valve (or that of another pneumatic object) to a dollar store kazoo*. Has this ever happened to you? I bought a Raleigh Sports classic English 3-Speed bicycle a couple years ago, and it is truly a joy. It has its production month and year stamped on the internal hub (73 10 = October 1973). Thus, I knew I had to do something to commemorate my bike's 50th birthday in the autumn of 2023. I felt that the best way to celebrate would be to enable my dear bicycle to celebrate as well by letting it whistle its own kazoo. Right at the end of the month, I iterated a couple quick prototypes to dial in the actuation pin feature that opens the Schrader valve, and then, on Halloween, it was ready to test! Prior to testing, I did not appreciate just how much air would be moving through the kazoo, so I needed to let out a good deal of air pressure from the tire, and, still, the kazoo was pretty screechy. There is probably some interesting flow management and acoustic design work that could be done, but I'll leave that for the bike's 60th birthday. *After diving into this topic, I recognize that the toy in use is not a proper kazoo but more of a "birthday squawker" or "party horn." I had never heard of those terms before, so I'm sticking with the more well-known "kazoo" to get the general point across.
