An animation of a TORSION SPRING from my last project, using the application »KeyShot 4«. A little trick helped me to come to a relative good result. If any member can show me a better, more realistic animation, I would be very pleased. Following the details: The animated torsion spring consist of two parts in an assembly. This assembly is used for the animation. A (.bip) file is uploaded for understanding the procedure. I think, it's self-explanatory, if you download the file and open it in your 'KeyShot' application. The most important value is the movement in axial direction of the two spring halves. This value is calculated: (wire diameter of the spring) * (complete moving angle / 360). For the first animation the value is: 0.7 * 90/360 = 0.175 (Both torsion spring legs are moving). For the second animation the value is: 0.8 * 152/360 = 0.3378 (One torsion spring leg is moving). The models are available as: STEP files (.stp) Native files (.prt) and (.asm), in a folder for users of »PTC Creo Parametric 2.0« Two animations are uploaded in the (.gif) format. Two screen shots for creating a helix by formula are added additional.
